John M Gowing
Founding Partner

Admitted as an Associate Member of the Institute Of Chartered Accountants in November 1976, John worked with a number of Sydney based Chartered Accounting firms before returning to his hometown of Muswellbrook in 1978 to open his own practice.

John has been a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants since 1983, as well as being a Fellow of the Taxation Institute for over 20 years.

John’s wealth of experience has allowed the practice to grow while maintaining the essential balance between growing the business and maintaining the professionalism and personal approach to understand and search out solutions for our client’s requirements.

Being a local John has continued to keep himself active in a range of community affairs, including Rotary, the Upper Hunter Wine Festival Committee ( in it’s formative years ) the Chamber of Commerce and the Scone Grammar School.

If there is one area that John has made his own within the firm is the aspect of Estate Planning. The future is exceedingly important to us all and to ensure our clients needs and aspirations are handled in the best manner possible is where John’s expertise comes to the fore.

Chris Sam
Partner

Chris has been with the firm since 1993 and joined John as a partner in early 1996.

A Bachelor of Economics from Macquarie University with an Economics Major was awarded to Chris in 1987. Chris continued his education program with a Graduate Conversion Course in Accounting at the UTS in 1989 and finalised the Professional Year with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in 1993. As well as the accounting and economic qualifications Chris also studied and completed a Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning in 1998.

After a brief stint with Jetset Tours in 1988 Chris has spent his time working in Chartered Accounting practices on a range of SME’s ( Small, Medium Enterprises ).

Chris enjoys the opportunity of dealing with people from diverse business backgrounds and finds the challenges of problem solving and adding value to our client’s aspirations to be both stimulating and rewarding.
